“The Artificially Intelligent Space, Time, Energy, & Matter Drive”
The STEM Drive is a smart-city AI core. The purpose of the STEM Drive is, at it’s core, to:
- Increase and prioritize privacy
- Increase productivity
- Open access to self-actualization & education for everybody
- Increase quality across the board (production to personal happiness)
- Obliterate homelessness and unemployment
- Massively reduce corruption
- Obliterate pollution & encourage the need to work within nature’s structure
- Perfect “capitalism” & resource management/distribution
It turns out, this might actually be easier than it seems.
The three phases of STEM Drive implementation are:
AI core development, training, & testing.
A test-bed city for proof of concept.
Facilitation of the necessary paradigm shift & smart-city expansion.
How Does the AI STEM Drive work?
This is actually quite simple in concept. The STEM Drive is a distributed system with an AI centric communications protocol.
The Communications Protocol AKA: Rubik’s Addressing
Obviously, if we’re going to build an entire city around an AI network – security is a huge concern. Thus, security is handled in two ways. First, it’s a distributed network with the fundamental concept of privacy and compartmentalization. This prevents very specific forms of attack from even being possible. The only form of information transmitted between nodes are “regulatory aspect ratios” (this is based on a blockchain-like system) and the communications protocol itself. Rubik’s Addressing (for now, this is just what I’ve code-named it, nothing to do with the mathematics of the Rubik’s Cube) is to AI, what person-to-person recognition is to us. In order for you to be fooled into believing that some impostor standing before you is your best friend – what must be accomplished? Obviously – most likely – nothing technologically available today. What goes into this? Features, build, body movements, expressions, personality, actions, intimate knowledge, etc. To be able to pull something of this magnitude off, you’d need to duplicate that person down to the atom. And, at that point – would it even matter? At that point – would we not have the technology to detect such an impostor anyway? So goes Rubik’s Addressing. The recognition parameters are yet to be determined. However, needless to say, being that deep learning can produce recognition on its own terms to degrees that vastly outperform human capabilities, I am confident that with the correct encryption schemes, multi-vector communications (ie: cable lines, wireless comm, PLC (power line comm), laser comm, and methods of triangulation), the number of parameters we can provide would ensure a nearly impossible system to trick into being fed false information. Granted, overconfidence in security is a dangerous game to play, so security checks and analyses will maintain a standard of excellence as if it were a feeble system.
STEM Distribution Network
Each core performs a similar task. However, every core is not equal. The network is a compartmentalized distribution of multi-tier & multi-stream systems with the capability for backward, forward, and lateral propagation error and stability self-checking. From micro-cores within one’s appliances (ie: cell phones, microwaves, refrigerators, furnaces, air conditioners, laptops, desktops). The job of these micro-cores is to identify fluctuating variables. For instance, the refrigerator catalogs what its contents are and how quickly any one product is consumed, and then it looks for trends over time. Likewise, the furnace catalogs gas usage, and searches for trends over time. Notice that consumption is regulated and measured at the level on which it is consumed. It is not the gas companies job to meter usage in the traditional sense. These micro-cores report their findings to the resident-core. This core is built into the home. The resident-core compares the findings of the micro-cores with possible outside influences. When it thinks it has discovered a unique relationship, it reaches out to surrounding resident-cores to verify the findings. If the finding is verified and tested (a sort of peer-review) then it is added to it’s analysis repertoire. Such a hierarchy proceeds on from single user up through each level of significant human grouping.
The top tier isn’t exactly the “top” tier. It relies on multiple top-tier nodes for stability and security as well as on lower-tier nodes for error checking and stability.
There are multiple streams of networking as well. There are house-hold & consumer streams, education streams, health streams, recreation and entertainment streams, business and production streams, raw material streams, and environmental streams with the capability to incorporate new streams as the system sees fit.
Consumer streams are, of course, from the house-hold on up. This is mainly consumption information. From this, distribution/delivery routes, route timing, waste management routes, parcel pickup routes, and product load calculations are performed to maximize route timing, cargo load calculations (ie: best route for product A delivery vs. product B, etc. Compared to many of today’s practices, the delivery of farmed goods (corn, rice, apples, etc.) are plotted directly from local sources. This removes the wasted time, energy, space, and – sometimes matter, when transporting corn from half-way across the nation to a city with a cornfield next-door. These are silly and wasteful practices that do nothing but hurt us.
Business streams are neither consumer nor distributor. They lay somewhere between. Unique to business and production is the incorporation of agent and agent productivity (ie: employees/workforce). The point here is for people to be happy and productive with what they are doing. Of course, nobody is cross checked against anybody else. What is measured is the person’s capacity and capability.
Production streams and raw material streams are fairly similar in behavior.
The environmental streams are slightly different. This includes sensors distributed throughout the environment. Seismometers, temperature readings, hygrometers, barometers, satellite linkups, sensors to detect pollutants in the air and water – etc. If there’s a sensor for it, there’s a STEM Drive stream for it. This, of course, looks for patterns in consumption, distribution, behavior, and environmental changes as well as a disaster early warning system.
Now, because each tier is only aware of where the numbers are coming from in relation to the tier below – and because each set of numbers is completely anonymous except when necessary, privacy and anonymity is maintained. Users also have the choice to limit what data is anonymous and what is not.
The goal here is to control the flow of resources (space, time, energy, and matter) and the distribution thereof with such precision as to maximize efficiency and minimize loss, without us, the users, feeling like our access to our needs and wants are being limited.
Machine Learning excels at recognizing patterns we are incapable of perceiving. It’s fast and accurate. And if we are to remove the bottleneck money has introduced, yet maintain the freedom and access to progress that capitalism has granted us – the only way to do it is with AI. It regulates the currencies without introducing the resistance and time-consuming self-balancing that money causes.
Within the structure of the AI STEM Drive, each human is afforded the STEM equivalent of a Universal Basic Income. UBI is calculated by what each individual needs to succeed. What do they need to maximize their happiness, education, health, and personal progress. If, at any time, somebody wants to drop out of the workforce at 50 and go back to school for a few years to pick up a new trade, or just to satisfy curiosity, that’s fine. We’ll afford them that luxury because we’re afforded that luxury.
This might seem like a ticked to a crumbling lazy society that won’t work. But I beg to differ. Studies and research suggest, people are far more apt to excel when their needs are taken care of, but not so much so that they are spoiled. We are afforded a UBI, but not a lazy extravagance.
Productivity is always being measured. This isn’t to be confused with a slave-state. The furthest thing from. If a problem arises – and somebody falls out of alignment with their ideal selves, we investigate. What happened? Did they suffer a tragedy? Are they feeling fulfilled? What can we do to help them?
The AI STEM Drive is not here to force people to do anything they don’t want to do. It’s here to facilitate the individual to become their happiest, truest, best self. The only way to do that is to manage resources such that everything is in line with what that is and how it changes throughout any individual’s lifetime.
As far as capitalism goes, the more you are your best you, the more you are afforded to spend. There will be an account for each individual – but no banks. Simply a technical score of how you’re doing. If you’ve gone above and beyond, and your interactions with others show an increase in their well being and productivity – you are afforded that level of acquisition.
Everybody is employed because everybody has something they want to do. When the need arises for a job that nobody wants to do, an APB is put out that asks for solutions and for people who are willing to perform the task until a better solution is found.
Keep in mind, that there is no limit to spending here. Scientific research will never lose funding, and mega-structures are only as far away as the willingness of the community to engage the project.
Under the AI STEM Drive, there is no loss of funding – it’s virtually impossible to run out of funding. That is because funding is predicated on what energy we can extract from the universe around us, and the willingness to engage STEM with any one goal in mind.
The best part is – most of the infrastructure is already here. We simply need to add a few things here and there and alter the way it is used.
The AI STEM Drive is the perfection of humanity, capitalism, efficiency, and creativity. If the STEM Drive doesn’t do it – something else will. This is the closest we can come to being a collective super-organism at this stage in our evolution and technological understanding. To maintain individuality where it counts and tie us all together as a true organism where it counts. You can think of it as functioning with the proficiency and skill of the human body, but each organ has his own personal life too.
